Hyundai follows general industry standards - transmissions, engine rebuild, engine performance, electrical, brakes, steering and suspension, and some advanced course work - heating and air conditioning.

Technicians currently are faced with the challenge of understanding the advanced electrical components that make up a majority of Hyundai's vehicles. The understanding of electrical components translates into understanding engine performance, automatic transmissions, and suspension controls.

The job has dramatically changed from the heavy overhaul, mechanical approach to an analytical, diagnostic approach. Due to the great presence of electrical components in today's vehicles, current Technicians need to be skilled in the areas of electrical diagnostics and understanding.

Hyundai's traning program is product specific. All Technicians are trained in each of the brand's new products and even the aspects of previous model vehicles that have been revamped and enhanced.

The goal is to keep the skill sets of all the Hyundai Technicians sharp and at their very best - equipping them with the most up-to-date and quality tools to make them the most efficient and effective in the field.

Combining work experience and training gives the Technician the time to access, experience, and understand the Hyundai product making the intense training experience more applicable and advantageous.

A successful Technician has to have passion for what they do and has to want to continually grow their skill set through hands-on experience and training.

Prospective Technicians need to look for a program that is certified or accredited through NATEF, AYES, or ASET. However, NATEF is the industry standard.
